A project that focuses on the use of mixed reality technologies to address complex spatial design tasks, with a particular emphasis on lab design. Lab design often involves multiple stakeholders, each with a range of requirements—everything from strict safety regulations to nuanced human factors that are difficult to quantify. The challenge is to find a way to streamline this process while ensuring that all these requirements are met.
To tackle this, I’m developing a tool that embeds these critical requirements directly into the design experience. The tool prompts users to create functional and feasible spaces as they explore various solutions, ensuring that the design process remains aligned with both tangible and intangible considerations. Importantly, the mixed reality lab designer is designed to be intuitive, requiring no prior training to use. This allows for more productive and transparent discussions during the design process, reducing ambiguity and ensuring that key safety and human-centric factors are never overlooked. The goal is to create a more accessible, collaborative environment for spatial design, making it easier to bring stakeholders together and create solutions that meet everyone’s needs.
