The Air Guitar project brings together innovative hardware and software features to create an immersive, interactive experience. Central to its design is an array of capacitive sliders, which emulate the feel and functionality of guitar strings, offering users a tactile and responsive playing interface. Complementing this hardware is a real-time sound synthesis system powered by the Karplus-Strong algorithm. This self-modifying wavetable synthesis technique produces realistic, dynamic audio that mimics the sound of plucked guitar strings, creating an authentic musical experience.
This project not only showcases the creative application of advanced signal processing techniques but also highlights the seamless integration of hardware and software. Through its development, I enhanced my skills in real-time algorithm implementation, hardware prototyping, and user-centered design. It also deepened my understanding of audio synthesis and interactive technologies, demonstrating how innovative engineering can transform how people engage with music.
