Projects: City Blocks at IEEEVR 2019

During the successful pilot of City Blocks at the Bristol Housing Festival, 149 unique cities were created by 125 designers with varying levels of urban planning experience. Each city was physically constructed using Lego, serving as an abstracted design tool, and then scanned to generate a full-scale, explorable virtual city. This immersive experience was further enhanced by providing designers with real-time analysis within a Virtual Reality simulation, enabling them to reflect on and refine their designs based on unbiased metrics.

City Blocks was also showcased as a poster at IEEEVR 2019 in Osaka, where I had the opportunity to present the project to the academic VR community. In addition to presenting my work, I supported the five-day conference as a Student Volunteer, which offered an invaluable chance to connect with peers, exchange ideas, and explore the latest advancements in Virtual Reality. The experience deepened my understanding of the academic VR landscape and reinforced the potential of immersive technologies to transform urban planning and community-driven design.
