One of the highlights of my PhD journey was City Blocks being invited to Build London 19, an event hosted jointly by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and Epic Games. The project was selected as part of a carefully curated showcase of the best Unreal Engine projects, and I had the privilege of presenting it to over 300 industry leaders and delegates from the architecture and architecture visualization sectors. This recognition provided a valuable platform to demonstrate how City Blocks is pushing the boundaries of urban planning and citizen engagement through immersive technologies.

The event featured a series of lectures on the impact of Unreal Engine in architecture, with insights into how real-time visualization is set to revolutionize working practices. One project that stood out was the 'City of Gothenburg' initiative by Chalmers University of Technology, a collaboration between industry and academia aiming to create a complete digital twin of the city. As the hosts of the next ICED in 2021, their ambitious project is likely to be a significant influence in the field of urban digital twins and immersive technologies in the coming years. It was inspiring to be part of such a forward-thinking event and to witness firsthand how the architecture industry is embracing innovation through real-time visualization.
